Dine on the Ground with Fiji Airways

Dine on the Ground with Fiji Airways

Many experienced travellers do not want to eat onboard. It is due to several reasons. Taking a snack at the wrong time is not healthy and air pressure has an impact on the digestive system.

Having noticed that a lot of passengers started steering clear of eating during long-haul flights, Fiji Airways has found the way to deal with the issue. The airline company has renovated the way business class passengers eat during their trips.

The idea of “Dine on the Ground” has been introduced by the company. It implies moving onboard meals to the departure lounge. They will be served shortly before the departure. And an option of light snacks will be offered to business class passengers amid the flight. For instance, salads, paninis, soups etc. will be available during the trip.

According to the airline’s reports 31 per cent of Australian travellers preferred sleeping to eating while on flight. Consequently, 38 amount of served food was wasted. The service is provided on morning and evening flights to Australia, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

That is not a new concept in aviation. The idea of serving substantial dinner on the ground and light one while on the flight has already been tried by United. But the new thing is that Fiji is going to serve full one only on the ground.
