British Airways has conducted consumers’ study. According to 2119 Flight of the Future Report by British Airways, some key perspectives of the next 100 years of aviation are identified. The airline company has surveyed about 13, 000 consumers in ten different countries.
A complementary report presented by British Airways was developed together with Foresight Factory. One of these aviation perspectives implies the development of slow, experimental flights similar to cruise liners but of the sky.
Thus along the existing opinion standing for super-fast flights there is another one as well. There are consumers who are interested in longer flights representing something like cruise ships of the sky. Due to some options of entertainment and additional facilities a flight will become a part of the holiday.
Moreover, for 45% of travellers environmental issues are vital. That is why they are ready to stick to the slowest flight if it is a greener option.
In what way is British Airways going to implement this idea? According to their vision, a cruise of the sky will not be just about music and movies. These ways of entertainment are considered to be out of date. They want something to meet modern tastes and expectations.
So, due to installed advanced stabilization technology passengers will be able to leave their seats during the whole flight wandering around the plane. They will enjoy pastimes on the move without being worried about turbulence.
As for entertainment options, for instance, holographic tour guide might be suggested to them. They will see the sight of their destination. Furthermore, they are going to offer a health zone with yoga classes or virtual gym.
The idea is pretty much realistic but its implementation will take years. Future will show.
