Qantas launching 19-hour test flight between New York and Sydney

The Australian airline Qantas is about to launch the longest nonstop commercial flight in the world. It is going to last about nineteen hours. It will connect Sydney with New York and London. There will be three pilot flights to examine the influence of ultra-long haul journeys on a person.

The first two pilot flights will have forty people onboard together with pilots, crew members. Moreover, there will be guinea pigs. It is going to fly from New York to Sydney and from London to Sydney.

As Qantas has claimed there has never been a direct connection by a commercial airline between New York and Australia before. As for London-Sydney route, it is going to be only the second commercial flight.

The pilot flights are scheduled to start in October, November and December. As for regular ones, they are going to be launched in 2022. It will cover more than 9, 500 miles and last more than eighteen hours and a half.

Scientists together with medical workers will study the way such a long-distance flight will influence passengers’ mental and physical conditions when onboard. According to the neurophysics and brain dynamics scientists the possibility of travel exhaustion is really high due to the long length of the flight.

The travellers will have smart watches on which will let the researches to observe and monitor the way the flight in question affect their health conditions and how fast they will manage to get over the jet leg.

A rage of entertainment will be available for passengers starting from exercises for better blood pressure, meditation up to different meals.
