According to the passenger’s report a man died as a result of overdose during the flight operated by Delta Airways. The airline company has been criticized for not being able to provide an appropriate medical assistance. It happened due to the absence of Narcan onboard.
The Delta representative has confirmed that there was a medical emergency during the flight. But at the moment the planes are not provided with Naloxone also known as Narcan. It is a spray which helps during an opioid overdose. But Delta is going to have it in the first aid kits during the flights in autumn.
It was flight 2531 operated by Delta Airways. It took off from Boston and was heading for Los Angeles on July, 13. The passenger was found in the bathroom unconscious and unresponsive. Moreover, there was a needle.
The passenger Lyman took to Twitter to call for action and encourage airlines to include Narcan into their first aid kits. The message went viral encouraging many people to join.
Flight attendants are the first to come to rescue in emergencies but they should be properly supplied to be able to save lives.
All the details of the case cannot be revealed due to passenger privacy rules. But still the issue is obvious.
