France is going to have €1.50 extra charge starting from 2020. The idea is to save the environment. Though, to make a difference it is necessary to establish higher charges.
Those whose destination will be through France next year will have to pay more for their tickets.
The country has brought out an eco-tax which is believed to give extra €180 million per year. According to the reports about 2% emissions are caused by aircraft.
For inbound and European flights passengers will have to pay €1.50. For connections outside the European Union it will be €3. Travellers of business class will be charged €9 but business travellers of long-lasting flights will have to pay €18.
The money raised is going to be invested in other means of transport, for instance, railway. The country tries to follow Sweden. In Sweden €40 eco-tax was brought out in April, 2018. It is a part of the campaign for becoming environmentally-aware in terms of air travel damage to the world.
Air France claims the eco-tax would give €60 m per year. But Air France is going to monitor passenger’s reaction to the price with eco-taxes. Because it might be more reasonable to buy modern planes as passengers are sensitive to prices.
