Electric plane becomes a reality with EasyJet

Airline company EasyJet, one of low-costs of Great Britain, has set to launch the use of electric planes. It is going to be done by 2027.

The head of engineering of the company, Gary Smith says that he is from the time when electric plane was next to impossible and now it is just a matter of time. Everyone sees it coming, no one doubts it.

The airline company has teamed up with American start-up Wright Electric to realize their plan. They are working on electric carriers which will operate 300 mile routes or ones of less length. Both environmentally aware people and technology ones are eager to lessen the level of fuel consumption.

It is justified by the need to have carriers with lower amount of emissions. The lower fuel consumption is, the lower the cost of the ticket is.

As it has been estimated the total fuel expenses for the previous year were $180 billion. As for 2019 they are expected to increase up to $206 billion.

Electric carriers would have zero emissions. Moreover, they have lower level of vibration and noise.

Eviation, Israel company, produced first commercial electric carrier in the world called Alice. As it has been stated by it, the greatest demand is
justified first of all by economic benefits.

It costs $200 per hour to operate this type of plane. It is significantly less in comparison with the operation of regular planes. That is why, companies are eager to launch this type of plane.

But there are certain drawbacks. For example, the distance Alice can cover and the number of passengers it can carry. The longest route is 650 miles, something like a route between Paris and Barcelona. The number of passengers is limited to 9 and 2 crew members.
