Uber’s flying taxi

Uber’s flying taxi

Starting from 2020 Uber will have flights to Melbourne. It will be its first international flight. And from 2023 Uber flights will operate commercial aviation.

The pilot destinations will be between Melbourne and US cities Dallas and Los Angeles. It will take some time to see how it works to join these cities.

Uber intends to use its air flights as some kind of flying taxi. To implement the idea there will be sky ports within the city to get their clients to. These ports will assist in getting from one destination to another easily.

The Air program will collaborate with Civil Aviation Safety Authority. They will identify possible destinations. Thus, it will be clear where passengers can be taken to using air Uber.

The expert in technology Trevor Long explains,

“The app installed on your device will assist you. On opening it, your location will be detected. Then, it will be analyzed if there are available flight paths to get a passenger to his/her destination as fast as possible.”

It goes without saying that the path in question should be quicker than by car. The aircraft is believed to be a five seat vehicle. There will be one in front for a pilot and four back seats. The takeoff will be vertical and then the aircraft will fly horizontally.

It remains unknown the amount of baggage allowed to be taken on board during the flight.
Uber wants their air service to be available for everyone. So, the company wants to make it equally affordable as an UnberX. And destinations should make no difference.

The reasons for having chosen Melbourne as its first international destination are its unique demographic and geospatial factors.
