United Airlines wants to do its best for connecting passengers. So, a new coonectionSaver tool was specially designed for such purposes. This tool manages to decide on the necessity to hold the departing flight.
In February United Airlines applied the use of this tool at Denver International Airport. Then the company launched it at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. In the nearest future the airline is going to use the technology in other US airports as well. The tool works the following way. A connecting customer gets a notification from ConnectionSaver with the instructions to follow. For instance, they are explained how to get to the gate.
United Airlines claims,
“The purpose of the technology is to assist connecting customers. It makes a decision whether to hold or not the departing plane by analysing all the data. But while helping connecting passengers the tool should not cause certain inconveniences for others.”
Consequently, if there is a possibility that passengers who are already on board will be late for their connecting flights or the plane to be late to get its destination, the tool will not hold the flight.
Taking into account the statistics of United Airlines, during the past four months about 14, 400 passengers managed to get to their connecting flights successfully. And it was due to ConnectionSaver technology.
