The airlines used to upgrade from economy with some bonuses, for example, extra room for legs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But the things have changed greatly. Taking into consideration the fact that the airlines are doing their best to sell every single seat onboard they make it next to impossible for check-in employees to upgrade a passenger\u2019s seat to business one or with better food. As it costs money so airlines are becoming not so friendly as they used to be. Complementary upgrades are a rare thing especially for those who are not frequent flyers.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade list of frequent flyers is impressive. As not so many passengers now tend to pay for their upgrades waiting for the company to do so. But in fact it is advisable for frequent flyers to pay at least the cheapest upgrade price. It will make upgrade chances better.<\/p>\n<p>So in order to get bonuses it is necessary to get a status. By signing to airline alliances (One World, Star Alliance and SkyTeam) a passenger can have a chance to get an upgrade from an airline for being a loyal one.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, a lot of credit cards offer points which can be used to pay for the upgrade. It takes about a month to get enough of them to do so.<br \/>\nSometimes if an airline fails to sell out all the business seats, it sends emails to its passengers offering to pay extra charge to get a chance to seat in business class.
