The emergency situation happened because it was suspected that there was possible fire onboard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The flight operated by <a href=\"https:\/\/flyings.net\/airline\/BA\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">British Airways<\/a> took off from <a href=\"https:\/\/flyings.net\/airport\/LHR\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Heathrow Airport, London<\/a>. It was supposed to fly to<a href=\"https:\/\/flyings.net\/airport\/JFK\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> JFK International Airport in New York<\/a>. The aircraft was on its way over Ireland when the incident took place. The aircraft landed due to an emergency at <a href=\"https:\/\/flyings.net\/airport\/SNN\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Shannon Airport, Ireland<\/a>. It took place on August, 24 in the evening.<\/p>\n<p>It been reported that approximately at 7.30 p.m., the cabin crew informed air traffic control about the situation onboard. And they waited for the directions to follow in the situation. Before making a landing the plane got rid of the fuel left. Following the safety measures the plane made a safe landing at approximately 7.40 p.m. The plane was met at the airport by the emergency crew.<\/p>\n<p>According to the passengers&#8217; reports they felt some kind of acrid odor. The crew switched off the electrical power to the aft galley in the interests of safety. Supposedly, there was some smoke coming out of the ovens located in that part of the plane. Moreover, the aircraft did not continue its route after being technically checked.<\/p>\n<p>A British Airways rep has confirmed that the incident took place and the plane had to make a landing in Shannon. It happened becaude of a technical problem. And the travellers were assisted in booking alternative ways of getting to their destinations.
