All around Europe there is a campaign which is supported by environmentally-aware people.<\/p>\n

Having been encouraged by supporters from Sweden and the notion \u2018flygskam\u2019 <\/strong>implying \u2018flight shame\u2019 <\/strong>the action has caught the eye of airline companies, travel groups and even political figures. <\/p>\n

On July, 9 the minister of transport in France established so called eco-tax<\/strong>. It will concern all the planes that depart from France. The eco-tax range is between 1.5 euros up to 18 euros<\/strong>. As for the money raised from taxes it will be invested in alternative means of transport, for instance, trains. <\/p>\n

As for KLM<\/a>, in honour of its 100th anniversary the company has set up a movement of using planes less<\/strong> in case of short distances. It is advisable in such cases to give preference to travelling by trains. Such actions are taken as aviation is to be blamed for about 3 per cent of human-made carbon dioxide emissions all around the world. <\/p>\n

Experts claim this movement to be a good idea for Europe as train travelling is well-developed and widespread. Moreover, it is easier to join countries by trans due to close location between them. And speaking in terms of the U.S. environmentally-aware people do not have such options of lessening the number of their flights. There are almost no alternatives to flying. <\/p>\n

Driving a car might be some kind of alternative but the impact for the environment is really substantial. The idea of speedy trains for the U.S. is still a dream which is hard to fulfill. The reason is that the parts of the country are far away from each other. <\/p>\n

Still there are things which can be done. Passengers can travel light, then avoid business class as those seats occupy a lot of space. <\/p>\n
